While Phase One of the Jackson Library renovation project continues (see updates in the Libraries’ Renovation Review blog), we remain focused on preparing SCUA collections for our relocation during Phase Two. SCUA staff continue to prepare our space in the Becher-Weaver Building to host both collections and staff.

But even the large space in Becher-Weaver is not big enough to hold all the unique archival collections, rare books, artifacts, textiles, and other materials held by SCUA! Fortunately, three on-campus office spaces have been secured to serve as “deep storage” during the remainder of the renovation. This deep storage option allows us to keep some of our lesser-used collections safe and secure on UNCG property, while retaining room in Becher-Weaver for most of our holdings. Unfortunately, these deep storage collections will be inaccessible during the renovations.
The materials that will be moving into deep storage are currently being prepared for their move later in 2026. These collections’ finding aids will be updated to note their inaccessibility during the renovation work.
